My Secret Life are a three-piece indie-punk outfit hailing from Birmingham. Not long after their formation in mid-2005, the band recorded a short demo entitled ‘Whatever it Takes’ which led to overplay.com not only playlisting it but comparing their sound to household names such as Radiohead, Pixies, REM and Supergrass. As well as this, local support from Ryan’s Gig Guide christened them as the absent connection between Placebo and Snow Patrol. ‘Whatever it Takes’ gradually directed My Secret Life to play a diverse range of shows within the community, progressively creating a status for themselves. As a result of the shows and the release of the debut demo came the emergence of the infectious live favourite ‘Easy When You Know How’ which eventually got included on the US only released compilation labelled as ‘BritainRocks’. The band then went on to release the single through Horus Music Ltd at the beginning of 2008.
Consequently, the release of ‘Easy When You Know How’ peaked at Number 7 on the End of Year singles chart on UKMix which placed them above well-renowned artists such as The Cribs, Biffy Clyro and Metallica. Accordingly, this encouraged the band to write more hook-driven songs in between playing a range of flourishing shows. My Secret Life continue to tour extensively over the UK and are planning on releasing an EP by the end of 2009 hoping to gain just as much success, if not more, than their debut demo.
