The Brighton based 4 piece sound draws influence from traditional indie music. Taking cues from groups like The Smiths, the Shins, Doves, The Cribs and Modest Mouse but adding elements of folk, rock and even krautrock, The Lieutenant’s Mistress have become as well known for the quality of their songs as for their lively stage performances.
The group formed in early 2007 by Andrew Motley, Matt Geary and Louis May who were all secondary school friends and remind so ever since. The finial member, beer garden recruit Simon ‘Box’ Hudson is the perfect complement to the group in terms of personality and versatility. Razor sharp timings, harmony and use of the trumpet to enhance the traditional vocal, guitar, bass and drum arrangements adds a dimension that separates this group of musicians from many of the ordinary indie bands out there today.
