SoundCloud have unveiled their very own subscription service that is now available to both music creators and listeners: Soundcloud Go.

Frequent users of the existing SoundCloud service will notice that the main service remains the same, but now has an expanded catalogue of tracks, along with some new features and functionalities too.

    What’s The Difference?

    • More music – SoundCloud are using the phrase “From Top-40 to the underground” to illustrate their expanded catalogue, providing users with access to music from the biggest names in the industry to new and up-and-coming artists.
    • Offline – Listen to music on your mobile device without an internet connection.
    • Ad-free – Enjoy an uninterrupted ad-free listening experience.

SoundCloud have arranged licensing agreements with UMG, Sony, Merlin and Warner, amongst others, meaning that users can now listen to more tracks than ever before through SoundCloud Go.

Not only can you save tracks so that you can listen to them offline, but you can enable a function that allows you to automatically save all of your current and future like and playlists so that they will automatically become available for offline listening.

Listeners can also completely remove audio and display ads so that nothing will disrupt their listening experience.

    What’s The Cost?

SoundCloud are offering a free 30-day trial of SoundCloud Go (available here) or through the app. After the 30-days runs out, the subscription is $9.99 per month (or $12.99 per month if purchased through the iOS app) with the ability to cancel anytime.

    What About My Music?

For the artists creating the music, SoundCloud’s discovery features mean that your tracks can quite easily end up next up in the play queue next to some of the biggest names in the industry.

Your listening statistics will still receive a boost regardless of whether or not they are listened to online or offline and your account will remain free to use. You can also choose to exclude your tracks from offline listening in the edit menu of nay track.

To get involved with Soundcloud Go, make sure you fill out your profile information on the Client Zone and be sure to include your Soundcloud URL when asked.

SoundCloud Go is only currently available in the USA (and it’s territories), UK (and it’s territories), and Ireland but is expected to roll out to other countries later in the year.

  2. Introducing On Soundcloud

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a new service that we are offering as part of our affiliation with Soundcloud.

‘On Soundcloud’ allows users to monetise tracks they have uploaded to their Soundcloud profile.

Update May 2016: On Soundcloud is now Soundcloud Go. - Click for more information.

    On Soundcloud

Monetising a track means placing adverts on the Soundcloud platform and means that you can earn money whenever someone listens to your music on the Soundcloud platform. The ability to monetise is only currently available in the USA and is expected to roll out to the rest of Europe shortly.

Monetising your Soundcloud tracks means that you can earn even more royalties from us, and what could be even better than that?!

What Do I Need To Do?

To monetise your tracks on Soundcloud, and to increase your royalty payments, you need to complete the following steps:

    • Whitelist your account with Horus Music. Whitelisting means tracks you have distributed through us won’t be blocked by Content ID when they are uploaded to your Soundcloud account. If your account hasn’t been whitelisted then please email us with your Soundcloud URL and we can arrange this for you.
    • Once your account is whitelisted please email us again to confirm that you’d like your account to be monetised. We will notify you when we have confirmation that monetisation has been activated for you – please note that only tracks that are set to public on your account can be monetised.
    • You will then need to provide us with your ISRC and publisher information for the relevant tracks – if this information isn’t already available in the Client Zone.
    • We will then send this information to Soundcloud for pre-clearance who will let us know when the track has been successfully verified.
      • Pre-clearance can take a minimum of 48 hours or longer based on how complete the publishing information is.
      • Self-published tracks can take significantly longer to clear.
    • Once cleared, we are then able to monetise the track for you on Soundcloud.

Any royalties that you earn from this will be paid to you in the usual manner.

  3. Horus Music announces its Partnership with SoundCloud

Clients of Horus Music will have the ability to have additional tools added to their SoundCloud account due to this special partnership between Horus Music and SoundCloud.  Artists and labels and no extra cost will have the ability to have the following:

    Delivery of content for fingerprinting

This means we will be delivering your catalogue to SoundCloud for content fingerprinting. The purpose of this is to stop those that have no right uploading your content to their SoundCloud profiles. Content which is recognized as part of the Horus Music catalogue gets blocked when uploaded to a SoundCloud profile that has not been “whitelisted” by us (info on whitelisting below). You will be able to unblock content if you find it is being used legitimately.

    Rights management tools

    Whitelisting

Currently we can whitelist SoundCloud profiles belonging to our artists, labels and distributed labels: this allows account holders to upload their own content without having it blocked by SoundCloud’s content ID system. To obtain whitelisted status please contact your Horus Music representative.

    Takedowns

If you find a profile that contains your content without having obtained the necessary licenses we can also issue a takedown notice using SoundCloud’s CMS system.

    Access to exclusive partner tools

    Scheduling

You will be able to schedule when your content is to go live on SoundCloud. For example, if you are unavailable to manually make a track public you can upload the content and schedule it to go live at a specified date and time.

    Geoblocking

You can lock your content so it can only be viewable, and played within certain territories. Useful if you have staggered release dates in different territories, or if you only own the rights for a certain territory.

    Domain locking

You can lock your players / widgets to specific websites so they cannot be shared and played from any other websites. Go to http://domainlocking.soundcloud.com and log in with your account info, you can set limitations so that your content can only played from the domain/s you allow.

    How do I take part?

New clients to Horus Music will have these made available to them regardless of which digital music delivery package they choose, free or paid up front.  To take part, sign up now.
